Gio Ponti designed several variants of his D.555.1 small table. The re-edited piece belonged to the furnishings of the Ponti home in via Dezza, Milan. It is made with hand-painted metal legs and grid. “The colors of the various sides of this table are arranged so that the tone is different according to the direction from which you look at it. It is an ancient tradition, of both artists and architects, to create the interplay of the various points of view” (Gio Ponti, “Domus”, 1954).

It is traditional for artists and architects to create an interplay of different points of view. And this tea table, which Gio Ponti designed for Altamira, belongs to such a tradition. The colored part was made in enamel on copper by Paolo De Poli
